Serafin String Quartet

THE SERAFIN STRING QUARTET Hailed by The Strad Magazine for “"playing with style and sophistication” and the New York Concert Review for “excellent music making…uncommonly fine interpretation,” Serafin String Quartet debuted to a sell-out crowd at New York City’s Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2004. Since its debut, the Quartet has been applauded by audiences around the nation. The Serafins are Quartet in Residence at the University of Delaware, and their acclaimed debut recording on the Centaur label (2010) features works by American composers or influenced by American sounds.
The ensemble is comprised of violinist Kate Ransom, prize-winning chamber musician and President of The Music School of Delaware; violinist Timothy Schwarz, internationally recognized for innovative and educational programming and current faculty member at Lehigh University; violist Molly Carr, an established chamber musician and winner of the 2010 Juilliard Viola Concerto Competition; and cellist Lawrence Stomberg, soloist/recitalist on the world stage and current faculty member at the University of Delaware.
