MARCANTONIO BARONE Pianist Marcantonio Barone has given solo recitals in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, London, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and other American and European cities and has performed as soloist with major orchestras on four continents. He has given the world premières of piano works by Ulysses Kay, George Rochberg, David Finko, and Gerald Levinson.
As a chamber musician, he performs annually as a member of the Lenape Chamber Ensemble, 1807 and Friends, and the Craftsbury Chamber Players, and at the Delaware Chamber Music Festival.
He studied with Eleanor Sokoloff at the Curtis Institute of Music and with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Mr. Barone teaches piano, chamber music, and keyboard harmony at Swarthmore College, and he has been head of the piano department at the Bryn Mawr Conservatory of Music since 1980. His recordings are available on the Albany, Bridge, Capstone, and Centaur labels.
